Solar company Solarever has inaugurated its second production line with a 600MW capacity in Tecomán, Colima, after investing US$35 million in specialized and automated machinery to manufacture 100% Mexican photovoltaic (PV) modules. This investment aims to streamline production and improve product quality while promoting economic development in the region and the country without causing any adverse environmental effects.
Colima has been at the forefront of promoting clean and renewable energy in Mexico. The state is also home to the largest and most important solar panel production factory in Latin America. The strategic location of the plant near the port of Manzanillo allows it access to key export routes, making it an ideal area for the solar market to settle.
“The Mexican west coast, and especially Colima, is a strategic area for the solar market since it connects directly with the port of Manzanillo, which improves our export routes,” said Simon Zhao, President, Grupo Solarever.
Solarever’s second production line, equipped with state-of-the-art machinery, will achieve a production capacity of 1.1GW when combined with the first production line, making it one of the largest solar plants in Mexico. This expansion will create more job opportunities in the region, too.
In a previous interview with MBN, Zhao said that solar power production has great potential in Mexico and that the company is helping to boost the industry through its products, quality service and low costs. “We are the main manufacturers of PV solar technology in Latin America. As a Mexican company, we are helping Mexico to position itself as the biggest manufacturer in the region,” he added.
Solarever’s factory has advanced photovoltaic technology, which sets it apart from other producers. The factory covers an area of 16,000m², producing over 2 million photovoltaic modules for domestic and industrial use. The brand has nine strategically located distribution centers in Mexico and the US. The expansion of the Colima plant is a significant milestone in the development of clean energy in Mexico.
At the same time, the company is building a new factory in Guanajuato for solar cells in its bid to become the first manufacturer of this technology in Latin America. In addition, it is in the process of constructing battery solutions in Jalisco. Furthermore, Solarever recently launched its electric vehicle (EV) through Solarever Electric Vehicles (SEV) and launched battery products as well as storage solutions.
